Icebreaker (Redux)

by The Southern Oracle

/
1.
the day the earth stood still and our hearts stopped making fire this empty world went cold. covered with ice. we are paralysed by the need of the light. how could we let his happen in front of our eyes? slip out of our hands? just laid down with no desire to survive. sank with the ghost ship as the captain said. surrender. obey. believe. our decisions led us here. undertook by the hand of greed. separated from the surface. locked us down in this hell. but it’s nothing like what we were told about. it‘s cold and dark. close your eyes and hold the hand of the undertaker. surrender. obey. believe. hatebay, hatebay. may my voice would find a way. hatebay, is there anyone who can hear me? someone who kept his head underneath the cold ocean of the enemies’ tears and still fighting for the air in his lungs. starving for the light of the surface. willing to be a breather. one of the survivors. we are the uprising race. we may rise to fall but we keep trying. we die fighting. running around this vicious circle of failing but we never accept to be the last of our kind. hatebay, hatebay. can anyone hear me? fear is on the way. hatebay, do you copy? please respond. fear comes in waves. over and out.

we are trapped under the ice of centuries’ hate and malice. in the house of cold and black silence rules the freezing air without a single breath. the dark sea gets her saltiness from the tears of sadness. frozen tears of mother earth shining through the shadow of the winter sun. in the land of dying gods and immortal slaves death is my faith. war is my rage. my revenge has just begun. i spread it over centuries and time is on my side. we are in a dark place where the shadows move and it’s not safe to stand with us anymore. we cannot sing above the ground but the voices keep ringing in our heads. raising our fists to reach beyond the horizon. our hearts still throbbing and the warmth keep boiling the caldron and all the lost souls in it. feel the fury of the army. we are breaking the ice. spitting our last breath. swimming towards the icepeak. climbing up the frozen mountain and throw off our crosses we bear since the flood. traditions buried in rain. the inbreed outbreaks.

about

In 2015 we released an EP called “ICEBREAKER” that laid the path for us and still leading our way on this creative journey. We wrote and recorded it the same way we did our latest record “EXODUS AESTHETIC” we just simply didn’t have enough experience and resources but the atmosphere of this raw powerhouse reflects what we tried to create. Even after more than six years we still think of this as a foundation and guideline for making new records no matter how many songs build the structure of the concept.

In the last two years besides keeping ourselves together and trying to stay strong as a band we were working on a well deserved redux version of “ICEBREAKER” with our engineer Daniel Ivanfi who became an important part of our band as we found our voice in the music world thanks to him.

These four songs tell the whole story together hence the best way to listen to it is if you do not skip any stage so we decided to upload it to the online streaming platforms as a single track so it gives you the full experience. With this step we’re going against the new trends that make you take as little time as you can on listening to music and by that missing the essence and the meaning behind the concept of a record with all it’s nuances as the artist wrote it. It’ll be available on 24th December, pre-save link above.

We redesigned the artwork as well, keeping the original feel of it by making it deeper and more relevant. We’re not planning to make a physical version but if you buy the digital version here you'll get the tracks separately as well.
